Recovering Reality Academy was built from a journey of redemption, faith, and real life transformation. The name was derived from John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (NKJV) The Greek word for reality is alétheia, meaning truth or reality, the opposite of illusion. Jesus is the believer’s reality, and the opposite of this world’s illusion.

This mission began over fifteen years ago with a simple desire to see people step into the freedom that Erik experienced after Jesus set him free from 13 years of addiction. After experiencing freedom, a deep desire grew to help others walk in truth through Christ’s grace. What started as a desire to serve became a lifelong mission rooted in Jesus Christ, His love, and His truth.

Erik met Mayana, and they have been married for over 10 years. Since then, they have started a family and served together in ministry as husband and wife. They are both ordained ministers and certified Christian life coaches, committed to helping people walk in freedom, healing, and spiritual maturity.

Mayana is Brazilian and carries a powerful testimony of healing, redemption, and restoration. Jesus set her free from minsdets rooted in this world, and walked her into the freedom found in His kingdom. God has specifically called her to minister to women who desire freedom, deeper growth, identity in Christ, and healing from past wounds. Her story is one of faith, perseverance, and transformation through Christ’s grace and love.

They have spent the last ten years married and in ministry guiding, encouraging, and equipping believers through biblical teaching, discipleship, and Christ centered coaching. Over time, this calling has grown into serving people across the world.

Their journey did not begin with perfect plans or impressive credentials. It began with obedience, faith, and a willingness to grow. Through years of prayer, learning, and hands on ministry, God shaped their calling into something stronger than they could have imagined.

As their ministry grew, they saw a need for Christ centered training that was both biblically grounded and practical for everyday life.
